Blazers win Summer League: John Jenkins and Wade Baldwin IV have led the Portland Trail Blazers to the championship of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas after a wire-to-wire, 91-73 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. The Blazers finished the tournament 7-0.
Baldwin IV led all Portland starters with 14 points, four rebounds and six assists. Jenkins added 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor.
For the tournament, Baldwin IV averaged 13.4 points and 7.4 assists per game in being named to the All-Summer League second team. Jenkins averaged 12.0 points per game in Las Vegas and shot 70% from the floor.

July 2 - Former Commodores John Jenkins, Wade Baldwin IV, Damian Jones, Luke Kornet, and Jeff Roberson all competed in the NBA Summer League this summer, which began July 2.
Two leagues opened July 2 and ran through July 5 with the Utah Jazz Summer League, which included the Jazz, Grizzlies, Hawks, and Spurs and the California Classic, which consisted of the Kings, Lakers, Warriors, and Heat. All 30 teams were represented in Las Vegas July 6-17 for the main Summer League at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Jenkins and Baldwin IV are with the Portland Trail Blazers, Jones and Roberson for the Golden State Warriors, and Kornet with the New York Knicks. Baldwin IV, Jones, and Kornet each played in the NBA a year ago, while Jenkins spent the year in Spain with San Pablo Burgos. Roberson graduated in 2018 after a stellar four-year career with the Commodores.
Every team participated this year in the NBA Summer League 2018. Teams competed in three preliminary games before being seeded in a tournament that culminates with the Championship Game on July 17. Each team will play at least five games and as many as eight.
NBA Summer League began in 2004 with six NBA teams playing a total of 13 games. Last year’s event featured 24 NBA teams playing 67 games.
SEMIFINALS UPDATE: Jenkins and Baldwin IV have led the Trail Blazers to the semifinals of the 2018 Summer League, with Baldwin averaging 14.4 points per game and leading the tournament in assists with 8.4 assists per contest. Jenkins recently scored a team-leading 25 points in the Trail Blazers' quarterfinal win over Boston on Sunday evening. Jenkins and Baldwin IV will take on the Memphis Grizzlies at 9:30 CT (TV: ESPN2) in the NBA Summer League semifinals, with the finals taking place on July 17 in Las Vegas, Nev.
