Ezeli Career Highlights | Jenkins Career Highlights | Taylor Career Highlights

With the 2012 NBA Draft quickly approaching (Thursday night, 6 p.m., ESPN), here’s a look at some Commodore tidbits as we all await to see where Festus Ezeli, John Jenkins, and Jeffery Taylor land in the draft.

    • Last player drafted was Shan Foster, who was drafted by Dallas in the second round in 2008.
    • Vanderbilt’s last first round selection was Will Perdue in 1988, when he was drafted 11th by the Chicago Bulls.
    • The Commodores have had three first-round draft picks – Perdue, Jeff Turner (New Jersey, 7th pick, 1984), and Clyde Lee (San Francisco, 3rd pick, 1966).
    • Last time Vanderbilt had two NBA draftees – 1981, when Charles Davis was selected in the second round by Washington and Mike Rhodes by San Antonio in the fifth round.
    • The Commodores have had two draft picks in the same draft seven times, but have never had two since the draft was shortened to two rounds in 1989.
    • Vanderbilt has had three picks in only one year – 1974.  That year, Jan van Breda Kolff was picked in the second round by Portland, Terry Compton in the fourth round by Kansas City-Omaha, and Bill Ligon by the Detroit Pistons in the 10th round.
    • Last Vanderbilt player on an NBA roster was Derrick Byars, who played with the San Antonio Spurs at the end of the 2011-12 regular season.
    • Vanderbilt has had 33 career NBA draft picks.
