Festus Ezeli, the Commodores' all-time leading shot blocker, is the first of three Vanderbilt men's basketball players to be featured on vucommodores.com as we look towards the NBA Draft, which happens Thursday night at 6 p.m. CT in New York City. The proceedings will be televised live on ESPN.
Ezeli averaged 7.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game in his four years with the Commodores, although his game blossomed in his final two years after the departure of center A.J. Ogilvy in the spring of 2010. In his last two years, Ezeli averaged 23 minutes of action manning the post for Vanderbilt, and poured in 11.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per contest in those 60 games. Ezeli was named a second-team All-SEC selection in spring of 2011 and a preseason All-SEC pick in the fall of 2012.
Many draft projections have Ezeli going towards the end of the first round and the beginning of the second, but as many have said leading up to the draft, Ezeli's size is hard to ignore.
