Vanderbilt Head Coach Kevin Stallings announced Tuesday that rising junior forward DeMarre Carroll will transfer at the conclusion of the spring semester.
"DeMarre feels that to accomplish his goals in basketball it is in his best interest to transfer at this time," Stallings said. "Given the makeup of our roster, he feels that significant playing time on the perimeter is not likely. We certainly wish DeMarre all the best."
"We appreciate Coach Stallings' understanding and willingness to grant a release so that DeMarre can pursue the opportunities that we feel are in his best interest," said DeMarre's father, Ed Carroll. "We have enjoyed our affiliation with the Vanderbilt basketball program and wish them great success."
Carroll has requested and will be given releases to the following schools: Missouri, N.C. State, UAB, Marquette and Memphis.
