Freshman guard Kevin Bright was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday by the league office in Birmingham after averaging 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two Vanderbilt victories last week. It is Bright's second SEC weekly honor of the season.
Bright, a 6'5 guard from Mannheim, Germany, was 8-14 from the floor for the week (.571), and 7-12 from three (.583), with his only two-point basket a game winner against Georgia with 0.8 seconds remaining to give the Commodores a 63-62 win. He knocked down four threes and scored 14 points in the win at Auburn, while also tallying a game-high eight rebounds. Bright, who is Vanderbilt’s leading rebounder, has scored in double figures in eight contests this season, including the last three.
Earlier this season, Bright captured the Freshman of the Week award after posting a 12-point, 12-rebound effort in a road win at Xavier on December 6.
Bright and his Commodore teammates return to the floor on Wednesday in their last regular season road trip of the season at Florida. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. CT (SEC Network) from the O'Connell Center.
