State at 7 p.m. CT NASHVILLE - Vanderbilt emerges from a six-day break to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in a regionally televised game on Raycom Sports Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium. Dave Baker and Larry Conley will handle announcing duties on the television side, while Joe Fisher and Tim Thompson will have the call on the Vanderbilt/ISP Radio Network. The Commodores are riding a five-game SEC winning streak, the longest of the Kevin Stallings-era (1999-present) and the longest since 1996-97, when Vanderbilt won six straight in SEC competition (2/1-2/19, 1997). Vanderbilt defeated Florida, 61-58, in their last time out last Saturday at Memorial Gym. Trailing 58-57 with 54.2 seconds to play in regulation, the Commodores scored the final four points, all on free throws. Alex Gordon gave the Commodores the lead for good with two from the charity stripe with 24 seconds remaining and added two more free throws with 13.8 seconds remaining to push the score to 61-58. The Gators had a chance to take the lead with Vanderbilt leading, 59-58, but freshman Nick Calathes was called for an over-and-back, which set up Gordon's final two free throws. Calathes and junior Dan Werner missed two threes as time expired, giving Vanderbilt the hard-fought win. It took a while for the Commodores to get to the charity stripe last Saturday, but they took full advantage of the attempts they did get. Vanderbilt made 9 of 10 free throws in the game, with all the attempts coming in the final 2:36. On the season, Vanderbilt is 104-150 (69.3 percent) from the free-throw line in the final three minutes of regulation and overtime. Shan Foster led all scorers with 19 points, which pushed his career total to 1,812 points. He is 80 points shy of overtaking Matt Freije for first on the Vanderbilt all-time scoring list. Foster also brought down six rebounds against the Gators. A.J. Ogilvy, who has scored in double digits in all but one game of his career, added 12 points, as did Gordon, who made the clutch free throws down the stretch for Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt and Georgia will meet for the 136th time on Saturday, with the Commodores holding the series lead, 79-46. The Commodores won an earlier meeting with the Bulldogs in Athens on February 6, 67-59. The Commodores have a 48-13 advantage over the Bulldogs all-time at Memorial Gym. Head coach Kevin Stallings is 9-8 all-time against Georgia, and 6-2 against the Bulldogs in Memorial Gym. Georgia enters the game with a 12-12 record and a 3-8 mark in SEC play. The Bulldogs have lost two in a row and seven out of their last eight games. Senior guard Sundiata Gaines leads the Bulldogs in scoring, rebounding, and assists at 14.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. Billy Humphrey also averages 12.6 points per game. The 2007-08 edition of the Commodores has won 22 regular season games, three off of the regular season record of 25 set by the 1992-93 team. Only the 1964-65 and 1972-73 teams have more wins than this year's team. Both of those teams posted 23 regular season wins. Tip off is set for 3 p.m. CST at Memorial Gym.
