About Missouri and the Series

  • Missouri enters the game with a 14-4 overall record and a 3-2 mark in their inaugural SEC season.
  • The Commodores lead the all-time series, 3-2.  The two teams met in a home and home series in 2009-10 (Nashville) and 2010-11 (Missouri).  Vanderbilt won the game in Nashville, 89-83, and the Tigers won an overtime game at Missouri, 85-82, in the last meeting.
  • Laurence Bowers leads the Tigers in scoring at 16.8 ppg, but has missed the last four games due to a knee injury.  Four other players, Jabari Brown (14.4), Phil Pressey (11.9), Alex Oriakhi (10.4), and Earnest Ross (10.3) also average double figures.
  • Coach Stallings is 1-1 all-time against Missouri.

'Dores Three-Point Streak Still Intact

Vanderbilt has made a 3-pointer in 849 consecutive games, a streak which began at the inception of the 3-point line in 1986-87. The Commodores rank second only to UNLV for the longest streak in Division I basketball.  Vanderbilt, UNLV and Princeton are the only three schools in college basketball to have made at least one 3-pointer in every game played since the 3-point line was implemented.

Perimeter Defense Coming Through For Dores

The Commodores' perimeter defense has been stellar throughout the season, limiting opponents to only 29.6% from beyond the arc.  In league play, the number is even better, with opponents only shooting 25.5% from three in the first five games of SEC play.  Additionally, in SEC play, the Commodores have only given up 61 points or more one time..

Commodore Bench Success

The Commodores scored 30 bench points against Auburn, the most for a Vanderbilt team since VU scored 35 bench points against Bucknell on November 15, 2011. In the last two games, Vanderbilt has averaged 27.5 bench points per game.

Kedren Johnson Ranks In Several SEC Categories

Sophomore point guard Kedren Johnson, who leads the Commodores in scoring, is in the top 10 in the SEC in several categories, including:

Scoring - 10th (15.1)
FG% - 7th (.436)
3FG% - 5th (.361)
3FG Made - 8th (2.1)
Min. Played - 4th (33.1)

Johnson is also the most improved scorer in the SEC from last season, when he averaged 3.1 points per game.

Kevin Bright Thrives Off The Bench

Freshman guard Kevin Bright has truely been a "bright" spot after being removed from the starting lineup three games ago.  In the last three games coming off of the bench, he is averaging 10.7 ppg and is shooting 11-20 from the floor (55%) and 10-17 (.588) from beyond the arc.  Bright leads the SEC in league games only in 3FG% at 50% (10-20).
