Northeastern and Vanderbilt MBB meet Saturday

Vanderbilt will close their non-conference portion of the 2013-14 season this Saturday evening at Memorial Gym when the Commodores take on Northeastern, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. The game will tip off at 8 p.m., with the radio call coming on the Vanderbilt IMG College Radio Network in middle Tennessee and online at  There will be no television for the game, but a live stream will be available at as a part of the website's All-Access package.

Vanderbilt had a three-game winning streak snapped on Monday night in their last time out when Saint Louis defeated the Commodores, 57-49, at Memorial Gym.  The Billikens held the Commodores to their lowest shooting percentage of the year from the floor (33.9%) and from three (17.6%).  Freshman center Damian Jones led Vanderbilt in scoring with 12 points and was the team's only player in double figures.  Senior guard Kyle Fuller added four points and career bests in rebounds (7) and assists (8).

Saturday's game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Bowl Tickets Get Fans Free Entry
Anyone with a ticket from the BBVA Compass Bowl earlier in the day in Birmingham will receive free entrance to the game against the Huskies.

About Northeastern

  • The Huskies are 3-10 on the season after dropping a 70-66 decision to Richmond on December 31.
  • Scott Eatherton leads Northeastern in scoring with 17.4 points per game.  David Walker also averages double figures with 11.5 points per contest.
  • Northeastern defeated Georgetown earlier this season at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, and seven of their ten losses this season have been by five points or less.

Fuller Coming On
Senior point guard Kyle Fuller has had a solid two-game stretch in the team's last two contests. He has averaged 8 points, 6.5 assists, and 6.5 rebounds in his last two games.  He is currently fourth in the SEC in assists (3.8 per game).

Henderson Out For Remainder of Season
Redshirt Junior Josh Henderson, who was averaging 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season, tore his ACL, MCL and lateral meniscus against Marshall on December 5 and will miss the rest of the 2013-14 campaign.  Expected recovery is eight to nine months.

Vanderbilt is 10-0 all-time against teams from the Colonial Athletic Association.

League Play Next For Commodores
Vanderbilt will begin its 80th season of SEC competition on Tuesday, January 7, at Alabama.  The game tips off at 8 p.m. and can be seen on ESPNU.
