Vanderbilt Team Notes: Key Run: Trailing 56-47 with 11:52 to play, Vanderbilt used an 18-4 run to take a 65-60 lead with 7:33 remaining. The Commodores nailed five three pointers during the run, including two each from seniors Alex Gordon and Shan Foster. Key Stat: After shooting 11-of-29 (37.9 percent) in the opening stanza, Vanderbilt used some hot shooting in the second half to lead their comeback. The `Dores shot 15-of-26 (57.7 percent) from the field, and a scorching 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) from three-point land in the closing half. Vanderbilt tied a season-high by pulling down 44 rebounds. After getting outrebounded 21-18 in the opening half, Vanderbilt controlled the glass in the second half, outrebounding the Tigers 26-9. Vanderbilt knocked down 10 threes in tonight's game on 17 attempts. The Commodores have made 10 or more threes in five games this season. Vanderbilt's 58.8 percent shooting from three also marks the best three-point shooting percentage in a game for the Commodores this season.
Vanderbilt Individual Notes: Shan Foster led the Commodores in scoring with 22 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. The double-double is the third for Foster in his stellar career and his first since the senior scored 14 points and brought down 10 rebounds against Auburn last season. Foster has now scored in double-figures in 15 consecutive games. Foster made three three-pointers in tonight's game, bringing his career total to 278, which ties him for third on the Vanderbilt three-point field goals made list with Frank Seckar (1993-96). Foster is 19 threes shy of overtaking Ronnie McMahan for the school record. Alex Gordon chipped in 16 points tonight. Gordon has scored in double-figures in seven games this season. The senior guard also added two assists and two steals. Freshman center Andrew Ogilvy added 14 points and six rebounds for Vanderbilt. Ogilvy has scored at least 10 points in all 11 games this season. Sophomore Jermaine Beal was the fourth Commodore to score in double-figures, adding 12 points. Beal also dished out four assists. Freshman Darshawn McClellan tied a career high with six rebounds. Senior forward Ross Neltner set a new career high with three blocks. Neltner also scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.
