Vanderbilt baseball's incoming 2017 recruiting class has been named the best in the country according to Baseball America.
The 17-man class features 10 pitchers and seven position players who will suit up for the Commodores. It's the fifth time the publication has named Vandy with the number one recruiting class (2005, 2011, 2012, 2015), and the 13th straight year in which the Dores have had a Top 25 class -- both Baseball America records.
Ten of the incoming freshmen are on the 2017 BA500, which ranks the best 500 players in the draft class -- a Baseball America record for a single school.
New pitchers to the program include David Bates, Corbin Brooksbank, Aaron Brown, Tyler Brown, Jake Eder, Hugh Fisher, Joe Gobillot, Mason Hickman, Erik Kaiser and Justin Willis. Incoming position players include Garrett Blaylock, Philip Clarke, Cooper Davis, Pat DeMarco, Jayson Gonzalez, Austin Martin and Tyler Solomon.
The class is made up of players from 10 different states, including four from Tennessee, and one from Ontario.
Vanderbilt's fall ball has started and takes place at Hawkins Field Tuesday through Saturday until October 12 when the team's annual Black & Gold Series starts. Fans are welcome to attend any of the Commodores' fall practices outside of home football Saturdays (September 16, September 23 and October 7). The team will be on the field at approximately 4:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and around 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Follow @VandyBaseball on twitter for updates.
