Pitcher of the Week: Week #4 ending 7/6/08
Chase Reid, Newport Gulls

When a pitcher strikes out 19 batters in a game setting a NECBL record and coming one short of the Major League record he's our Pitcher of the Week! Chase, a freshman right-hander from Vanderbilt and Southlake, Texas recorded the 19 K's against the Twisters on Independence Day earning a complete game 6-1 victory. This was Reid's first start of the summer as he struck out the side four times, struck out every Torrington starter at least once, and fittingly, ended the game by striking out Josh Chasse.

Player of the Week: Week #4 ending 7/6/08
Brian Harris, Sanford Mainers

Harris, a sophomore middle infielder, makes it an all Vanderbilt week. The shortstop, second baseman from Nashville tore it up this week leading the league with a .750 batting average. In 5 games Brian had nine hits in 12 at-bats, scoring 7 times and knocking in 4. Add 4 walks and his on-base percentage was a whopping .813 helping the Mainers to climb up the North Division standings and threaten Keene for the top spot.
