For the second time in five days, Vanderbilt and North Carolina will meet again in the College World Series at 6 p.m. Wednesday at TD Ameritrade Park. Unlike the first meeting when the team's opened up the 2011 CWS, one team will be going home after Wednesday's game. Both teams are hoping to stave off elimination Wednesday to setup a meeting with Florida at 1 p.m. Friday.
Wednesday's game will air on ESPN2 and can also be watched on ESPN3.com. Fans may listen to the game on 560 AM in Nashville, online at VUCommodores.com or on SiriusXM radio channel 91. There will also be a live in-game blog that begins at 5:45 p.m. on VUCommodores.com. To access the audio feed, live stats, webcast or blog, click HERE.
North Carolina (51-15) has already avoided elimination once with a 3-0 win over Texas on Monday afternoon. The Commodores (53-11) were sent to the losers bracket after a 3-1 loss to Florida in a game that began on Monday and finished on Tuesday due to inclement weather.
Vanderbilt will send senior right-hander Taylor Hill, who is 5-1 with a 2.84 ERA, to the mound on Wednesday. He will be opposed by fellow senior righty Greg Holt, who will be making just his second start of the season.
Holt (7-1, 3.57 ERA) was an eighth round draft pick by the Washington Nationals and has appeared in 32 games this season. His only other start was in the opening game of the ACC Tournament when he went 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, while striking out six. Hill will be making his first start since June 5 against Belmont.
