For the first time since 2011, Vanderbilt is ranked No. 1 in the majority of the polls. The Commodores are the top-ranked team in all five polls this week, marking the first time since the 2007 season all five polls have put Vanderbilt in the top spot. That year Vandy was the top ranked team in the country for 14 weeks, including the last nine weeks of the regular season.

Tony Kemp picked up his second Player of the Week honor this week after an outstanding four-game performance last week. The junior posted three multi-hit games to raise his total to a team-best 24 multi-hit games this year. Kemp blistered Kentucky pitching over the weekend in Vandy's ninth series sweep of the year going 8-for-14 (.571) with two doubles and two RBI while scoring four runs. In Saturday's doubleheader he went 6-for-10 leading both games off with a hit. Kemp is the first Commodore to win two Player of the Week honors in the same season since Dom de la Osa in 2007.

The Commodores enter the weekend game on a 13-game winning streak. Vanderbilt now has three winning streaks of at least 13 games this season (13 and 14 games earlier this year). During the Dores' latest streak the team has been excelling in all phases outscoring opponents 91-31 (7 runs per game to 2.4) while hitting .345 to the opponents' .209. VU has 23 stolen bases and only allowed four. Of Vanderbilt's 89 RBI, 36 have come with two outs - including 11 over the weekend at Kentucky. The Commodores' pitchers have posted a 2.15 ERA compared to the opponents' 6.59 ERA. Vandy has made eight errors during the stretch, including a seven-game streak without an error.

Vanderbilt hosts Alabama in the teams' final SEC series of the season. The Crimson Tide took two-of-three from the Commodores last season in Tuscaloosa. The Dores rallied to win the finale in the last series Vanderbilt has lost. VU is 54-78-2 all-time against Alabama.

Vanderbilt Hall of Famer Scotti Madison will be at Barnes & Noble Vanderbilt on Saturday from 9 a.m. to Noon signing copies of his book Just a Phone Call Away.
