NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt's 2011 baseball team and former Commodore guard John Jenkins will be among those honored at the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame annual awards banquet and induction ceremony on Saturday, May 19.
The Commodores' 2011 baseball team will be recognized as one of two Amateur Teams of the Year along with the Lee University women's soccer team. The 2011 season was the most successful in school history for Vanderbilt and resulted in a trip to Omaha for the College World Series. The Commodores also shared the SEC regular season title and posted an overall final record of 54-12.
Jenkins, a native of Hendersonville, Tenn., will be recognized as the Male Amateur Athlete of the Year after leading the SEC in scoring for the second season in a row. Jenkins was also a first team All-SEC selection for a second straight year and earned third team All-America honors from the Associated Press in 2012.
