• Had one of the best first career starts of all-time on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader at Georgia going 3-for-3 with four runs scored and a season team-best five RBI.
• In his first at-bat on Saturday he crushed a three-run homer for the first of the Dores' three home runs in the opening frame.
• He laced a RBI-double down the left field line in his second at-bat before adding his second career home run and second of the day in his third at-bat.
• Wiel followed up Saturday's game with a RBI-double in his first at-bat in Sunday's win.

Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt went an even 2-2 for the week with a loss to Tennessee Tech on Tuesday and a series victory at Georgia... The Commodores' ninth inning rally fell short against the Golden Eagles on Tuesday, dropping a 10-9 decision... Vince Conde bounced into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded in the ninth... Rhett Wiseman hit two home runs and Connor Harrell added a mammoth blast for his team-best eighth homer in the loss... The Dores and Bulldogs were rained out on Friday night to set up a doubleheader on Saturday... The VU offense endured a frustrating first game leaving 11 men on base in a 3-1 loss... Kevin Ziomek tossed his third complete game of the season but was the tough-luck loser allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits... The Commodores' offense bounced back in a big way in the second game with a 15-4 win to split the twin bill... In his first career start, Zander Wiel stole the show going 3-for-3 with two home runs, four runs and five RBI... The Dores hit three home runs in the first inning and a season-high five in the game... Tyler Beede was the beneficiary of the offensive outburst to earn his 10th win of the season allowing four runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts across seven innings... Vanderbilt finished off its 10th straight series victory of the season and 14th straight dating back to last season with a 5-1 win on Sunday... For the ninth time in the last 10 games the Commodores' offense collected at least 10 hits... Xavier Turner extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a pair of singles... Mike Yastrzemski and Vince Conde added two hits each... Carson Fulmer was outstanding in 2.1 innings of relief to notch his first career win... T.J. Pecoraro turned in a solid 4.2 innings in his first start since March 26 and just third of the season allowing one run on five hits... Brian Miller matched the Vanderbilt single-season school record with his 11th save of the season working two scoreless innings... The Commodores play a pair of ranked opponents this week with a trip to #8 Louisville on Tuesday for the Battle of the Barrel before returning home to Hawkins Field to host #16 Mississippi State in rematch of last season's SEC Tournament Championship Game.
