Vanderbilt heads south to take on the Georgia Bulldogs to begin the second half of the Southeastern Conference schedule. Last year in Nashville, the Commodores swept the Dawgs for the third straight year. The Dores' offense racked up 25 runs in the three-game series to push the scoring total to 78-35 over the three sweeps. Vanderbilt's last loss to Georgia came in 2013 when the team dropped the front end of a doubleheader as one of only three league losses that year en route to a SEC record 26-3 mark. VU has won the last seven series against Georgia dating back to 2009, not including the one game the two teams played in 2010 in Nashville due to the flood. Vanderbilt is 111-119 all-time against the Bulldogs dating back to 1896.

Kyle Wright has been named SEC Pitcher of the Week and one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week for his three-hit shutout of Florida last Friday. The junior dominated the Gators, striking out a career-best 13 with no walks while scattering the three singles. He punched out at least one batter in all nine innings to blank Florida for the second straight year.

Reed Hayes has done his best Roy Hobbs impersonation for the Commodores this season, pulling double duty as a hitter and pitcher. Hayes' performance on Tuesday at Middle Tennessee was his best in the black & gold with career-highs at the plate with four hits and six RBIs before striking out the side in the ninth from the mound. The junior has showcased his talents as a hitter and pitcher in eight games so far this season going 13-for-31 (.419) with 14 RBIs at the plate and turning in eight scoreless innings of relief on the bump.

Vandy hits the road again this week for four games with Tuesday night's blowout win at Middle Tennessee starting the trip and a visit to Georgia this weekend. The Commodores are on the final leg of a stretch that has the team away from Hawkins Field in 11 of 16 games. After this week, the Dores will close the regular season with 11 of the final 15 games at The Hawk.

The Commodores' defense has been much improved over the team's last 11 games, fielding .991 as a team. VU has made only four errors during the stretch to help improve the team's fielding percentage to .975 for the season. The team has also helped the pitching staff with eight double plays. Shortstop Connor Kaiser has anchored the defense with a team-high 36 assists and been involved in seven of the eight twin killings.

Julian Infante and Jeren Kendall are the only two Commodores remaining to have played in every game this season. Infante has started all 38 games at first base while Kendall has received the nod for all 38 in center field. Kendall has spent nearly all season near the top of Tim Corbin's lineup with Infante hitting in the middle of the order. Will Toffey dropped out of the race last week, missing the game against Tennessee Tech.
