Senior catcher Curt Casali has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for his performance against Middle Tennessee State and Alabama.
Casali went 6-for-14 with three runs scored, three doubles, a home run and 10 RBI in four games. The New Canaan, Conn. native had three two-hit games and three multi-RBI games. He drove in three runs with two hits in the 9-1 win over the Blue Raiders on Tuesday, three more runs with two hits in Friday's 11-3 victory over the Crimson Tide and four more runs with two hits, including his second home run of the year, in an 11-6 win over Alabama on Sunday.
The honor is the first of Casali's career and the fourth time this season the league has recognized a Commodore. Sonny Gray and Grayson Garvin have each been named the SEC Pitcher of the Week this season and Tony Kemp was co-Freshman of the Week last week.
South Carolina's Colby Holmes was tabbed the SEC Pitcher of the week while Auburn's Dillon Ortman and Arkansas' Dominic Ficociello shared the Freshman of the Week honors.
The Commodores face Middle Tennessee State tomorrow night at Reese Smith Field in Murfreesboro, Tenn at 6 p.m. The top-ranked Dores send freshman T.J. Pecoraro to the hill to face Blue Raiders right-hander Paul Mittura.
