As Tony Kemp goes, so goes the Vanderbilt offense. The junior is having a stellar season leading the team in six offensive categories, including hits with 42. When the Dores' leadoff man reaches base multiple times in a game the team is 16-1 and 18-2 when Kemp scores at least one run. He has reached base in 11 straight games and in 28 of the team's 30 games while boasting a team-best .486 on-base percentage. His seven-game hitting streak is the longest current streak on the squad.

Mike Yastrzemski has been in the middle of most of the Commodores' offense over the last five games. The senior is 10-for-24 (.421) during the stretch scoring seven runs and driving in four more. Of Vanderbilt's 45 runs over the last six games, Yastrzemski has accounted for 11 of them. The outfielder matched a career-best last Sunday with four hits.

Five former Commodores opened the major league baseball season on the roster of their respective teams. Cy Young Award winner David Price gets the Opening Day start for Tampa Bay today and Pedro Alvarez was in the lineup for Pittsburgh in the opener yesterday. Mike Minor is scheduled to start for Atlanta on Friday against the Cubs. Mike Baxter is back with the Mets and Ryan Flaherty earned a spot on the Baltimore roster this spring. Minor league seasons begin on Thursday when an additional 24 former Dores will begin their seasons.

Vanderbilt visits Ole Miss for the first time since 2008 when the Rebels swept the Commodores. The Dores returned the favor in the final series of 2012 sweeping Ole Miss in Nashville. Vanderbilt is 49-50-2 against the Rebels all-time.
