VANDERBILT RETURNS TO ROAD IN STARKVILLE
Vanderbilt hits the road for the first time since opening weekend with a trip to Mississippi State. The Commodores dominated the Bulldogs in four games last season, sweeping a series at Hawkins Field and winning a game at the SEC Tournament while outscoring MSU 32-14. The Dores' last trip to Starkville was in 2012 with the Bulldogs taking two-of-three. Vandy is 41-56-2 all-time against Mississippi State dating back to 1951.
CONDE TABBED SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Vince Conde led the Commodores with a .643 average during the team's 3-1 week going 9-for-14 with three runs scored, two doubles and four RBI to be named the SEC Player of the Week. The junior posted three straight multi-hit games, including matching his career-best twice with three hits in two games against No. 8 LSU.
GOING FOR TWO
Vanderbilt enters the weekend averaging 2.5 doubles per game as a team with 55 doubles in the team's first 22 games. If the Commodores continue that pace they'll finish the regular season with 140 doubles, the most since the 2010 squad set a school record with 160 doubles. Bryan Reynolds leads the team with 10 doubles on the season and is one of 12 Commodores to register at least one two-base hit this season.
Freshman Bryan Reynolds has been a steady run producer for the Commodores this season leading the team with 21 RBI. The Brentwood, Tenn. native has been clutch over the last two weeks driving in 13 runs over the last nine games with at least one RBI in eight of those games. The switch hitter matched his career-best with three RBI in last Saturday's second game of a doubleheader vs. LSU.
