No. 4 Baseball hosts Lipscomb Wednesday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -Vanderbilt baseball will close out its 15-game homestand Wednesday as crosstown foe Lipscomb visits for a 6 p.m. tilt at Hawkins Field.
The Commodores and Bisons split the season series a year ago. It was one of just two non-conference losses on the year for Vanderbilt.
VU is 12-4 overall and 2-1 in Southeastern Conference play after winning last weekend's series over South Carolina. The Dores are ranked in the Top 10 in all four major polls this week, with a high ranking of No. 4 by Rivals.com.
Lipscomb is 7-8 overall and 5-4 in the Atlantic Sun after taking two of three from Jacksonville over the weekend. Senior transfer Jorge Gutierrez leads the team with a .361 batting average, while junior Caleb Joseph is the top powers source with three homers and 15 RBI. The Bisons are hitting .285 as a team with nine homers and 95 runs scored in 15 games (6.3 per game). Lipscomb has a team ERA of 5.32 with 124 strikeouts and 70 walks in 130.1 innings on the year.
Both teams starting pitchers were to be determined. The Bisons take on Tennessee Tuesday night before facing Vanderbilt tomorrow.
The Commodores hold a 40-10 series advantage all-time. The teams will play at Lipscomb in the second game of the home and home series on Tuesday, April 15.
