No. 12 Vanderbilt posted a 3-2 week, capturing victories against Austin Peay and Indiana State to close out a 10-game homestand … The Commodores bounced back from consecutive losses to open the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic by defeating No. 24 Houston in the finale on Sunday night … Vanderbilt unloaded for eight runs in the fourth inning and overpowered Austin Peay in the middle frames as part of a 19-6 victory on Tuesday night at Hawkins Field … the Commodores picked up four RBIs from Ethan Paul and Jayson Gonzalez and produced the most runs since scoring 20 against UIC on Feb. 28, 2016 … It also marked the fourth time in the last five games Vandy has plated 15 or more runs … Vanderbilt fell behind by four runs, its largest deficit of the season, but bounced back in a big way, defeating Indiana State for its eighth-straight win on Wednesday night at a rain-soaked Hawkins Field with an 8-5 victory … The Dores scored in four-straight innings between the fourth and seventh, including jumping ahead 7-4 on a three-run home run from junior Alonzo Jones as part of a four-run sixth … Sam Houston State overcame a pair of deficits, defeating Vanderbilt 7-6 on a two-run home run from Hunter Hearn in the 10th inning during Friday’s opener of the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic at Minute Maid Park … The Commodores let a three-run lead in the ninth slip away as the Bearkats tied things up on a pair of home runs, including a game-tying solo shot from Jordan Cannon on a 0-2 count with two down … Tyler Brown was saddled with the loss, allowing a pair of hits and as many runs while recording two outs … Vanderbilt collected just five hits and stranded nine runners on Saturday night, falling 3-0 to Louisiana … The Dores dropped their second straight and once again were victim to the two-out long ball as Louisiana’s Kevin Fontenot belted a two-run home run to start the scoring in the third inning … Vanderbilt produced multiple runs in each of the first three innings and received a sensational performance from JJ Bleday, defeating Houston, 9-4 on Sunday night … After dropping the first two of the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic, the Commodores were able to celebrate a milestone win for Tim Corbin who became the program’s all-time winningest coach with his 656th victory … The 16th-year head man surpassed former skipper Roy Mewbourne, who led Vandy from 1979-2002 … The win came during a highlight-reel game for Bleday, who belted a two-run home run and stole extra-bases away on two occasions in right field courtesy of a diving grab and sliding catch … Vandy continues its seven-game, 10-day road trip this upcoming week with a visit to Long Beach State on Wednesday … The California tilt continues over the weekend as Vandy takes on UCLA and USC before closing the trip against TCU at Dodger Stadium.
