Nashville, Tenn. -- For a fourth-consecutive season, multiple Vanderbilt players have been named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List with Julian Infante and Patrick Raby making an appearance on the 2018 list announced by USA Baseball on Friday.
The 41st Golden Spikes Award will be presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation on June 28 in Los Angeles. The preseason watch list features 55 of the nation's top amateur players from high school and college baseball.
Vanderbilt is just one of nine programs to have multiple representatives on the watch list. Fifteen different collegiate athletic conferences are represented on the list with the Southeastern Conference leading the way with 15 representatives.
Infante, who was named preseason All-Southeastern Conference on Thursday, matched Jeren Kendall a season ago with a team-leading 25 multi-hit games and paced the Commodores with 66 RBIs. The Miami, Fla., product reached base in 22-straight games in 2017 and batted .315.
Meanwhile, Raby became the 13th Vanderbilt pitcher to reach double-digit victories in a season, posting a 10-4 record and 2.73 ERA last year. The Knoxville, Tenn. native led the Dores with 105.1 innings pitched and limited opponents to a .231 batting average.
Five Commodores have been named finalists for the Golden Spikes Award including David Price, who took home the honor in 2007. Other finalists include Pedro Alvarez (2007), Tyler Beede (2013), Carson Fulmer (2015) and Dansby Swanson (2015).
