Nashville, Tenn. – For the second time this preseason, Vanderbilt finds itself situated in the top-10 of the rankings.
The Vandy Boys received 414 points and were voted No. 10 in the USA TODAY Top 25 baseball coaches’ poll, the publication announced Thursday. The poll consists of 31 coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
The Commodores have been ranked in four preseason polls including as high as No. 6 by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. The rankings mark the eighth-consecutive year Vandy has been ranked in the top-10 heading into the year.
Thursday’s poll debuted one day prior to the opening of in-season training for the Dores, who get underway on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Vanderbilt will train Tuesday-Sunday with times set for 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. on weekends.
The Southeastern Conference leads all leagues with eight preseason top-25 programs in the USA TODAY poll. The Dores are joined by Florida (1), Arkansas (6), Kentucky (8), LSU (9), Texas A&M (T-11), Mississippi State (15) and Ole Miss (19).
