Infante tabbed preseason All-American

Nashville, Tenn. – Vanderbilt junior Julian Infante has been named Second-Team Preseason All-America by Perfect Game USA, the publication announced on Tuesday.

The Miami, Fla., native led the Commodores with 66 RBIs a season ago while boasting a .315 average and 130 total bases – second only to Jeren Kendall. Infante was one of 10 offensive players names to the second team, doing so as designated hitter.

On May 7, Infante drove in a career-best seven runs against Missouri, becoming the first Dore since Dominic de la Osa (2006) to do so. The Westminister Christian product was one of two VandyBoys to play in all 62 games during a 2017 campaign that saw the team win its fourth NCAA Regional title in the last five years.

Vanderbilt enters the 2018 season ranked inside the preseason top-10 for an eighth-straight year, checking in at No. 6 according to College Baseball newspaper. The Dores open the year with 10 consecutive at Hawkins Field, with the season opener slated for Feb. 16 vs. Duke.

Tickets are also on sale to the upcoming Vanderbilt baseball team banquet, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Nashville. Head coach Tim Corbin will introduce the team including the squad’s 16 incoming freshmen.
