Florida advances to the Bracket I winners' bracket final which will be played on Friday, June 24 and is now just one win away from advancing to the CWS Championship Finals
North Carolina will play Vanderbilt on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
*-Official time of the rain delay was 2 hours and 40 minutes before the game was suspended at 10:42 pm CT.
*-The last time two conference opponents met up in a MCWS game was a 14-5 victory by LSU over Arkansas on June 19, 2009
*-Prior to this game, the last time the press box was evacuated for a tornado was on June 13, 2000 (Clemson and UL Lafayette)
*-This is the second time this season that Florida and Vanderbilt have been suspended by weather and resumed the next day. The meeting on May 13 in Nashville completed six full innings before being suspended with Vanderbilt leading 4-2. Florida, however, scored two runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth to get a 6-5 win in the series opener.
*-This is the second straight year (and third time in four years) that a CWS game has been suspended and resumed the next day. In 2010, Game 8 was suspended with Clemson leading 6-1 in the top of the sixth inning. Clemson held on for a 6-4 when the game was resumed the next day.
*-Tony Kemp had the fifth triple of the 2011 CWS in the third inning. This is the sixth straight year there have been at least five triples hit at the CWS.
*-This was the fifth meeting between Florida and Vanderbilt this season and the Gators hold a 4-1 series edge. Florida now leads the all-time series with Vanderbilt 124-63-1.
*-The nine hits in game six mark the first time since 2007 that two CWS teams have combined for less than 10 hits in a game.
*- The two teams combined for 23 strikeouts, one shy of being one of the top five combined totals of all-time for a nine-inning game.
Florida *-Florida, making its seventh appearance in Omaha, improved to 2-5 all-time vs. SEC opponents at the MCWS.
*-Today's win was Florida's 52nd of the season, setting a school record. The previous record was 51 set in 1991.
*-This is the second time that Florida has started a CWS 2-0. The previous time was 2005 when the Gators advanced to the Championship Finals before finishing as runners-up to Texas.
*-Florida's win over Vanderbilt moved the Gators to 10-13 all-time in MCWS play. UF is now 4-3 all-time in its second game at the MCWS.
*-Bryson Smith's fifth-inning double extended his hit streak to 12 games.
*-Preston Tucker's sixth-inning double was his 23rd double of the season, matching a school single-season record.
*-Karsten Whitson went 4.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out five and walked one. He had two shorter starts this season, one a 4.1 inning, no-decision outing at Vanderbilt on May 15. The other came vs. Manhattan in the regional opener, a game UF won 17-3.
*-In two starts vs. Vanderbilt this season, Whitson is 0-0 with a 4.00 ERA. He allowed nine hits over 9.0 innings while out 10 and walking two.
*-Florida improved to 12-2 in games in which Preston Trucker hit a home run.
*-Preston Tucker's home run was the first MCWS 3-run shot in TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, and the second homer of the series.
*-This game marked the 14th time this season that Florida pitching has struck out 10 or more batters.
*-The 4.1 innings pitched by Steven Rodriguez was a season-high for innings pitched. His previous high was 3.1 IP vs. Winthrop on March 22.
*-The 7 strikeouts by Steven Rodriguez were also a career-high. His previous career-high was five set in 2010.
Vanderbilt *-Vanderbilt suffered its first loss in this year's NCAA Tournament. The Commodores are now 6-1 in the tournament this year and 26-21 all-time in NCAA play (South Carolina is now the only team without a loss in the NCAA Tournament).
*-Vanderbilt's fifth-inning RBI single by Anthony Gomez snapped a 21.2 scoreless streak vs. Florida, as the last run the Commodores scored against Florida was in the fourth inning of the series finale in Nashville on May 15, a game that went 12 innings.
*- Aaron Westlake went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, matching a season high set on March 25 at Arkansas.
*-Grayson Garvin's nine strikeouts are the most he's had since striking out 10 vs. San Diego on Feb. 20.
*-This was the first loss for Garvin since Feb. 27. He had won his last 12 decisions.
*-Anthony Gomez broke the school record for at-bats in a single season with 278 passing Andrew Giobbi's 2010 total of 275.
*-This game was only the sixth time this season that Vanderbilt had been held to less than two runs in a game.
*-The Commodores are now 42-4 when allowing three runs or less.
