COACH CORBIN QUOTE - John may have been one of the unsung arms on last year's team as a freshman. He pitched some crucial games for us and became very reliable. I really like what he is going to become. He falls in line with several of the talented left-handed arms that have pitched for us at Vanderbilt. He's a well-rounded kid who excels academically and has a great personality.

2015 - Turned in a career-high seven quality innings against Lipscomb 4/7 in a loss giving up two runs on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts... Earned his second win of the year with a career-best six solid innings vs. Wofford allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts... Tagged for a career-high five runs, four earned, on seven hits over 3.2 innings of start at MTSU 3/24... Worked the final three innings of second win over Arkansas 3/13 in DH scattering three hits and striking out six to notch his first career save... Gave up a season-high five runs, three earned, on five hits over 4/1 innings of no decision at USC 3/7... Earned his first collegiate win against Illinois State 2/28 with 5.1 scoreless innings allowing just two hits with six strikeouts... Struck out a career-high nine batters over 4.2 innings of a no decision against Indiana State 2/21 in Port Charlotte, Fla. allowing one run on three hits... Made his first career start against Santa Clara 2/14 G1 allowing four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.2 innings of a no decision.

2014 - Made his College World Series debut with three solid innings of relief allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts vs. Virginia 6/23... Allowed one run and recorded one out in loss to South Carolina 5/17... Recorded four outs and did not allow a run vs. SEMO 5/13... Turned in one scoreless inning and allowed two hits at Florida 5/10... Allowed one run over 3.1 innings vs. Louisville 5/6 walking two and striking out three... Recorded two outs in win over MTSU 4/15... Walked one and struck out one in a scoreless inning against Texas A&M 4/11... Tossed two scoreless innings allowing one hits and striking out two vs. UT-Martin 4/1... Tagged for a two-run homer at Belmont 3/18 in one inning on the mound... Pitched three innings of scoreless relief at MTSU 3/5 scattering three hits and fanning two... Turned in a strong performance out of the bullpen with 5.2 scoreless innings, walking three, striking out seven and allowing only one hit vs. Evansville 2/26... Retired the only batter he faced against UIC 2/23... Made his collegiate debut at Long Beach State 2/16 getting the one left-handed batter he faced to fly out to left field.

HIGH SCHOOL - Played for the Jesuit Tigers, where he was the team captain senior year... Team was ranked No. 1 in the nation at least once in all four years with the squad going to the state tournament all four years... High school teammates with Houston Astros' first round pick Lance McCullers, Spencer Traynor (North Carolina) and Adrian Chacon (North Carolina)... Played summer ball for FTB Chandler.
