Hello Commodore Nation,
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Zac Ellis, Vanderbilt's new Writer and Digital Media Editor. What does that mean, exactly? It means I'm tasked with providing an inside look at Vanderbilt's tradition-laden athletic programs, from student-athletes to coaches to everything in between.
I'm excited to arrive in Nashville on the heels of five years at Sports Illustrated, where I primarily covered SEC football and basketball as a national writer. I'm a storyteller at heart with a passion for college sports. But this opportunity at Vanderbilt serves as a homecoming of sorts: I'm a Tennessee native who long ago recognized that nothing matches the dedication of SEC fans. As a charter member of the conference, Vanderbilt's stories remain a key piece to that puzzle.
The best part of my new gig? The future couldn't be brighter in Nashville. I'm fired up to follow Derek Mason as he continues to mold Vanderbilt football into an SEC contender. I'm ready for a fresh, revitalized era of Commodore basketball under both Bryce Drew and Stephanie White. I'm stoked to cover Tim Corbin and the Vandy Boys as they renew their annual quest for the College World Series. And from men's golf, which has posted three straight trips to the NCAA Championships for the first time in school history, to women's tennis, winners of the 2015 NCAA title, more stories are waiting to be told at Vanderbilt. That's why I'm here.
But most of all, I'm excited to take you inside Vanderbilt athletics like never before. We at Vandy have a lot planned for the future, from lengthy features on your favorite `Dores to enhanced video and audio content across all sports. We hope vucommodores.com evolves into your one-stop shop for Vanderbilt news and stories, and my role is to offer a one-of-a-kind perspective on Commodore sports.
I couldn't be more excited for what lies ahead at Vanderbilt. If you bleed black and gold, I hope you are, too.
