Screaming Eagles film jump with helmet camera
Ever wonder what it's like to parachute into a football stadium with the game ball? The Screaming Eagles from the 101st Airborne Division captured this must-see footage from their jump prior to the Vanderbilt-Army football game last Saturday. Also, Brittany Kogut interviewed Staff Sgt. Jerad Gough and Sgt. Matt Thode, the Parachute Demonstration Team members who made the jump.

Roots debut: CJ Rhoades
Learning more about student-athletes is one of the best parts of the job. In VUcommodores' series debut titled Roots, Charles Pulliam profiles soccer junior midfielder CJ Rhoades. Rhoades, a team captain, discusses her competitive nature on the field. She even wore a helmet cam for this new video feature and showed off some of her tricks.

Quick response saves devoted fan
You may have witnessed a scary situation at Saturday's football game involving a Commodore fan who suffered cardiac arrest in Vanderbilt Stadium. Kathy Whitney of the VUMC Reporter followed up on the emergency and found out that long-time supporter Jim Askew, 77, was discharged from the hospital Tuesday and is recovering at home. My favorite part of the story? Askew asked paramedics for the score of the game after his heart rate was restored. What a devoted fan!

Golf How To: Warming-up
If you're like me, you could use some help on your golf game. Vanderbilt men's golf coach Tom Shaw offers tips on ways to warm-up before playing a round. In one lesson, Shaw recommends starting with smaller swings on the range, rather than going with bigger clubs. Maybe it's time for me to quit my Happy Gilmore routine.

Poor officiating ends Vanderbilt game
You're probably wondering how we can get away with running a negative headline about officiating. Well, this History Corner story by Bill Traughber is on the Commodores' loss to the Louisville Athletic Club in 1894. That's right. 1894. And those ridiculous calls kept the Dores from an undefeated season.

Runners on Fall Morning Workout
Take a morning jog with the Commodore cross country team through Centennial Park. Also, look for The Parthenon, Nashville's replica of ancient Greece's Parthenon. (Bonus footage: XC team competes in a pumpkin carving contest)

Swimming Preseason Photo Shoot
Joe Howell photographed the swim team in group and individual poses prior to the start of the season. Howell even took a couple of shots of the Dores under water.

VUCast Extra: Vanderbilt beats Army
VUCast, Vanderbilt's award-winning news network, produced a short reel on Vanderbilt's 44-21 win against Army. Footage includes game highlights, radio calls from The Voice, and fan comments (including one gentlemen who references the Dillon Panthers' motto). Video production by Emily Pearce and Pat Slattery.

My Game: Candace West
Get to know senior Candace West, who was featured in the October issue of Commodore Nation magazine. West discusses her family, goals and memorable moments from her soccer career

SEC Media Day Rewind
We're getting closer to the first basketball game... and the excitement continues to build. Ryan Schulz made the trek to Birmingham on Thursday to cover SEC Basketball Media Day for VUcommodores. Schulz wrote a notebook on the top Commodore storylines that came up at the event. Several good nuggets for hoops junkies.

Vanderbilt issues apology to USMA
My father, who served 20 years in the Air Force, taught me that when you make a mistake, you own up to it. Vanderbilt's apology to Army did just that in my opinion. The letter has been shared over 1,000 times in social media outlets, breaking VUcommodores' record.
