Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is recognized nationally as one of the top hospitals in the country and has been recently been named to the U.S. News and World Report Honor Roll. Regionally, VUMC is considered the emergent caregiver for all of Middle Tennessee as well as southern Kentucky, southern Illinois, and northern Alabama. All Vanderbilt Physicians are provided through Vanderbilt Sports Medicine (VSM), a division of VUMC. The staff of medical care providers that exist to serve the Vanderbilt student-athletes consist of highly trained sports medicine professionals. They are health care providers who understand the extreme demands of intercollegiate competition and the academic rigors of Vanderbilt University and the Southeastern Conference.
