Vanderbilt Golf Camp is designed to accomplish two things...to have fun and become better golfers! Campers will receive instruction from the Vanderbilt men's and women's golf coaches on basic golf fundamentals, skill and technique, course management, rules, and etiquette. Campers will have the opportunity to apply what they learn at camp as they compete against each other in team competitions and in one-on-one competitive golf situations.

Dates: Friday-Monday, July 31-August 3, 2015

Age: 10-17 years
*Overnight campers must be entering the 8th grade
*10-17 years for commuters. If you aren't entering the 8th grade, you must commute or stay in a hotel with a guardian.

Cost: $850 Commuters (ages 10-17), $950 Overnight Campers

Description: For boys and girls, ages 10-17, of all skill levels. The price includes meals, housing, golf activities, and a camp amenity package. Each student is evaluated at the beginning of camp to ensure that the juniors of similar ability are grouped for instruction geared to their needs with student/Instructor ratio of no more than 6:1. Morning instruction rotates stations for putting, chipping, pitching, bunkers, full swing, games, and competition. The afternoon session is on-course play with coaches to work on shot selection and course management. At the conclusion of each day, campers will enjoy guest speakers, seminars, a tour of Vanderbilt University's campus, movies, field games, and night golf. Full time coaches and counselors will be available to ensure the safety of the campers at the golf course and in the hotel.

Note: Walk-up registration is permitted on the day of camp. You will be charged $50 on top of the camp fee.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel your camp reservation, we will retain $100 of your camp fees.

ABOUT THE COACHES

SCOTT LIMBAUGH Vanderbilt Men's Head Golf Coach
In just his third year at Vanderbilt, Scott Limbaugh has taken the program from the 69th ranked team in the country to 6th. The team's 16th place finish at the 2014 NCAA National Championship was the highest finish in program history. Coach Limbaugh's teams have won five times since his arrival. Before moving to Nashville, Coach Limbaugh served as the Assistant Men's Golf Coach and Head Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Alabama. Coach Limbaugh coached Alabama to 2 SEC titles and 4 NCAA championship appearances with a runner-up finish in 2012. In the process, Coach Limbaugh has coached and mentored 10 All-Americans, 3 of them being First Team All Americans and 3 PGA Tour players - Bud Cauley, Justin Thomas and Michael Thompson.

GREG ALLEN Vanderbilt Women's Head Golf Coach
In his 15th season as a head coach in women's collegiate golf, Greg Allen is in his eighth season at the helm of the Vanderbilt women's golf program. The Commodores are coming off the best year in program history. In 2014 the program claimed 6 team titles including the SEC Championship and the NCAA East Regional. Individual team members also enjoyed success in 2014, winning 5 times. Coach Allen has coached five All-Americans at Vanderbilt, including two-time SEC Player of the Year Marina Alex. Coach Allen came to Vanderbilt after a seven-year tenure as the head coach at the University of Arizona, where he twice won the Pac-10 Conference, finished as NCAA runner-up in 2002 and coached Lorena Ochoa, formerly the No. 1 ranked player on the LPGA Tour, among nine other All-Americans.

DUSTY SMITH Vanderbilt Men's Assistant Golf Coach
Dusty Smith joined the Vanderbilt men's golf staff in the summer of 2011 and also serves and the team's recruiting coordinator. Coach Smith, a former Ping All-American, served as an assistant coach with the men's and women's golf teams at Lamar University, his alma mater, for three seasons before his arrival in Nashville. Coach Smith is outstanding in player development

HOLLY CLARK Vanderbilt Women's Associate Head Coach
Holly Cantwell Clark is in her fifth year as assistant coach with the Vanderbilt women's golf team after spending three years as the head coach at Carson Newman College. Before her arrival at Carson Newman, Coach Clark was a four-year standout player at the University of Tennessee. Coach Clark serves as the recruiting coordinator and was instrumental in the team and player success in 2014. Since joining the Commodore coach staff, the Dores have been to the National Championship all four years and have recorded three top 10 finishes.

COMMON QUESTIONS

1. Where will camp be held?

Camp will be held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Vanderbilt Legends Club offers an exceptional instruction facility located in the heart of Tennessee, with a two-sided driving range, a short game area with three putting greens and three chipping greens. It is the home of the Vanderbilt Commodores men's and women's golf teams.

This year, we will be staying at the Cool Springs Embassy Suites just minutes from the golf course.

2. Can I register the day of the camp?
  • Yes, individuals are allowed to walk-up & register the day of the camp. Online registration will close at 12 PM CST the day prior to the camp. Check In & walk-up registration will be from 2PM-3PM at the Cool Springs Embassy Suites Lobby. Cool Springs Embassy Suites is located at 820 Crescent Centre Drive, Franklin, TN 37067
  • Upon registering, all walk-up campers must have a parent, guardian &/or adult present to help complete the medical information form & a release from liability.
  • At this time cash or checks will be acceptable at registration. All checks should be made payable to Vanderbilt University.
  • Online registration is preferred.

3. What are the costs of the camps?
  • CAMP FEES: $850 Commuters (ages 10-17)
  • **If you aren't entering the 8th grade, you must commute or stay in a hotel with a guardian
  • $950 Overnight Campers (must be entering the 8th grade)

4. What should campers bring?

Cell phones are permitted at camp, but campers must abide by the rules relative to their daily usage. Cell phones are strictly prohibited during instruction and course of play. If a camper is seen using a cell phone when usage is prohibited, it will be confiscated and returned upon the end of the day. Cell phone usage is limited to periods of free-time and in the evenings. Parents-Please make sure your child has read and understands this policy.

Spending Money: We recommend that each camper brings at least $50 of spending money for snacks or souvenirs. We will be taking a tour of the Vanderbilt University campus. Campers are responsible for keeping up with their money.

Packing List: Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items that we recommend you bring. Vanderbilt University is not responsible for lost or stolen articles or money. DO NOT bring valuable items to camp with you and remember to label clothing and equipment.

5. When & where is check-in/check-out occurring for camp?
  • Check In will be from 2PM-3PM at the Cool Springs Embassy Suites Lobby. Cool Springs Embassy Suites is located at 820 Crescent Centre Drive, Franklin, TN 37067.
  • Vanderbilt Athletics Camp Policy requires that you sign your camper in when you drop him/her off and sign your camper out when you pick him/her up at the conclusion of camp.
  • Camp closing ceremony is at 12:00 pm on August 3 following the tournament at Vanderbilt Legends Club - Parents are invited to attend! Departure is following the ceremony between 12:00-2:00 on Monday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

6. What type of medical care will be provided?
  • Vanderbilt's certified athletic trainers and doctors will be on call during camp sessions. The golf coaches are all CPR certified.
  • Campers &/or their parents must complete a release from liability and a medical form found at the online registration site. Please turn in the liability and medical forms prior to camp.
  • Upon registering, all walk-up campers' must have a parent, guardian &/or adult present to help complete the medical information form & a release from liability.

7. What is the camp refund policy?
  • If camp enrollment needs to be cancelled, Vanderbilt University will retain $100 of your registration (including any fees associated with online registration). The remaining amount of the registration will be refunded to you in the same method used at registration.
  • Once a camp begins, money will not be refunded unless extenuating circumstances are approved by the Vanderbilt Athletics Department Administration.
8. Will food be provided?
  • All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) will be provided during camp starting with dinner on July 31 through lunch on August 3. Commuters are responsible for their own breakfast.

9. Roommates?
  • Campers stay 3 per room. The rooms are assigned according to sex, age, and roommate requests.
  • A female camp counselor will be assigned to stay on the floor with the female campers in the hotel and a male camp counselor will be assigned to stay on the floor with the male campers in the hotel.
  • If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity for you to meet someone new!
