Vanderbilt lacrosse will face first ranked opponent of season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt lacrosse travels to Baltimore for a Wednesday afternoon matchup against No. 15 Johns Hopkins at noon CT. The game will be shown on Centennial Conference Digital Network.

The Dores are coming off a 16-15 win over Kennesaw State last weekend, powered by a career-high, eight-point performance from junior Molly Finlay who scored five goals and had three assists. Finlay was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll Monday.

The Commodores have three players ranked nationwide including transfer Brooke Baker who has the third-most free position goals per game with 1.75. Senior Taylor Sampone has the third-most ground balls per game with 4.25 and junior Kemper Robinson has the fifth-most caused turnovers per game with 2.75.

Johns Hopkins enters the game 5-2 on the season, with wins over ranked opponents Albany (No. 21), Duke (No. 25) and USC (No. 16). The Blue Jays are coming off a 13-10 victory over the Trojans last weekend. In a back-and-forth game, Ashley Mackin carried Johns Hopkins with four goals and one assist for a game-high tying five points.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series against the Blue Jays 10-9 with the last meeting coming in 2017 when Johns Hopkins won a 13-8 decision in Baltimore.
