Dores on the Web

Oct. 6, 2017

The latest buzz on the web surrounding the Vanderbilt Commodores:

SEC: The Big 12 and SEC have announced the 2017 schedule and television coverage for their Women's Basketball Challenge, which will feature every team from the Big 12 against 10 squads from the SEC. Vanderbilt faces off against Iowa State on Dec. 2 at 3:00 p.m. on SEC Network.

VUCommodores.com: At the Nike Collegiate Invitational, Vanderbilt men's golf combined to make 15 birdies on the back nine of the final round of the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club’s Witch Hollow Course to finish third at the prestigious tournament in Portland, Oregon with a final total of 18-under par, 834 (276-281-277).

Vanderbilt: This week, Commodores athletics director David Williams spoke at the 2017 Pulic Schools Hall of Fame Nashville Public Education Foundation.

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt women's golf landed at No. 15 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, the program's highest spot in the top-25 since it finished the 2013-14 season ranked No. 11 nationally.

The Tennessean: As Vanderbilt prepares to face No. 5 Georgia this week, the Bulldogs have not named a starting quarterback between Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm. But as Adam Sparks writes, Commodores head coach Derek Mason isn't duped. “He’s not fooling me,” said Mason. “… Fromm has won ballgames. He just came off a (41-0) win (over Tennessee)."

Twitter: Vanderbilt soccer hasn't lost since Sept. 3, a streak of six straight wins and one tie following Thursday's 2-0 win over Kentucky in Lexington. At least one other Vanderbilt head coach is noticing the job soccer coach Darren Ambrose has done with the Commodores.

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt baseball's annual Black & Gold series is set to begin on Oct. 12. The Dores will play at least three intrasquad games with free admission for fans, and each game will be around six or seven innings in length.
