Progress continues to be made on Vanderbilt's new multipurpose facility and recreation center expansion.
Work on the roof of the multipurpose facility is nearly complete and brick has begun to be laid on the north and south sides of the building. All sides of the multipurpose facility are now nearly completely covered by sheathing.
Within the last two weeks, the dirt outline for the track has been covered by a layer of blacktop. Workers have also installed door frames and will soon begin work on the windows.
Work also continues on the west side of the recreation center, which will include meeting rooms, additional workout space, bowling lanes and a gym.
The multipurpose facility is scheduled to open Oct. 31, 2013 with work completed on the recreation center's enhancements in January, 2014.
