About Grantland Rice | ESPN Release | Grantland.com

Fifty-six years after his passing legendary sportswriter and Vanderbilt graduate Grantland Rice continues to have an impact in sports journalism. On Thursday, ESPN announced that it would launch Grantland.com -- a website conceived by sportswriter Bill Simmons -- in June.

The site address honors the legacy of Rice, who was inducted into the Vanderbilt Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010. Grantland.com will include original columns, features, blog posts and podcasts.

Simmons will serve as editor-in-chief of Grantland.com, which will feature the work of numerous other writers in addition to Simmons.

Rice played football and baseball at Vanderbilt and was elected to the Vanderbilt Board of Trust in 1926.
