Shrimp is my weakness.
What inspires you?
My family. I am thankful to have a wonderful husband, children and parents!
Best advice you've received?
"Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have!"
Memorable moment as a child?
Playing the lead role of Nellie Forbush in "South Pacific" in the eighth grade. And, my senior year in high school I competed in the state of Tennessee choral competition and placed third in the state for sopranos.
Absolutely petrified of swinging bridges. In third grade, my teacher had to carry me across one on a field trip because I was so scared. Still to this day, my gut sinks even at the thought of one.
Farthest you've been from home?
Italy on a graduate trip when I was getting my MBA.
What's your biggest challenge?
The toughest obstacle I have ever faced is breast cancer. It was a hard journey, but also one that increased my faith and gave me a much clearer perspective on life. As hard as battling cancer was, I am thankful for what I gained from the journey.
Do you have pets?
Two cats--Tiger Lily and AJ
Name one of your talents outside of work?
Music has always been a big part of my life. I've played piano since age six. From middle school through college, I performed in choral groups and musicals. I still love to sing any chance I can get...but my audience is now my family!
If you had a time machine, what year would you travel to?
1989--all of my grandparents were still alive. I would love to be able to have a conversation with them again.
What will you be doing 10 years from now?
Ten years from now, both of my kids will be out of college. So, I can see myself and my husband on a cruise. But, I definitely see myself still Anchoring Down here in Athletics.
