It will be a busy weekend of events on Vanderbilt's campus with the women's basketball team, men's tennis team and track and field team in action.
The track team will host their second and largest indoor meet in school history Friday and Saturday. The Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational begins at 5 p.m. Friday and resumes at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The meet will be held in Vanderbilt's new multipurpose facility. The meet will feature some of the top competition in the country and will be the program's first indoor meet since December. Vanderbilt's men's tennis team hosts a two-day tournament this weekend at the Currey Tennis Center. The Commodores are one of 16 national hosts for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend - an annual event that features the top teams in the country playing in four-team tournaments at various host sites with the winners advancing to the national finals.
Vanderbilt hosts Texas, Wake Forest and LSU for the tournament. The Commodores will play the Longhorns at 10 a.m. Saturday and Wake Forest and LSU will meet at 2 p.m. The winners and losers of the first two matches will meet on Sunday. The consolation match will be at 10 a.m. and the championship match will be at 2 p.m. Admission is free. (More Information)
On Sunday, there will be a matchup of two ranked teams at Memorial Gym when No. 16/19 Vanderbilt clashes with No. 10/11 South Carolina. The Commodores enter the game 16-3 overall and 5-1 in the SEC. South Carolina is 17-2 overall and 5-1 in the SEC. The Gamecocks defeated the Commodores earlier this season. The game will be televised on ESPN2 and can be heard on 560 AM and 95.9 FM. Additionally, Vanderbilt's bowling, men's basketball, swimming and women's tennis teams will be in action on the road this weekend. The bowling team is competing at the Kutztown Invitational and the women's tennis team is in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Lincoln, Neb.
Swimming travels to Western Kentucky Friday and Saturday and the men's basketball team plays at Texas A&M at noon CT on Saturday.
