Dores Lose Duel to Dogs

Vanderbilt falls to No. 6 Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 30 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team fell to No. 6 Georgia 4-0 on Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Georgia sits atop the SEC standings with an 11-1 conference record. The Dores move to 11-8 overall and 6-6 in SEC play.

The 33rd-ranked Vandy doubles team of Celia-Belle Mohr and Anessa Lee scored a win over the nation’s No. 9 team of Aysegul Mert and Dasha Vidmanova 6-2, but the Dores dropped matches on courts 2 and 3 and the Bulldogs secured the doubles point.

Mohr, ranked No. 8 nationally in singles, raced to take the first set against No. 21 Vidmanova, and Dore Holly Staff led 7-6, 2-0 over No. 85 Anastasiia Lopata, but neither player but was able to finish their match before Georgia won three singles matches to seal the team victory.
