Dores Extend Home Streak

Vanderbilt welcomes No. 13 Florida, No. 17 South Carolina

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis continues its home streak this weekend, scheduled to face Florida on Friday at 3 p.m. and South Carolina at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

This past weekend the Commodores picked up two SEC victories, defeating Arkansas 4-3 on Friday and Mizzou 4-0 on Sunday.

The Commodores are 11-5 this season and 6-3 in conference play, holding the No. 27 spot in the latest ITA rankings. Célia-Belle Mohr and Bridget Stammel are ranked nationally in singles, Mohr at No. 17 and Stammel at 75. Also ranked nationally in doubles, Mohr and partner Anessa Lee are 25th; Valeria Ray and Holly Staff are ranked 69th.

Florida
The Gators (12-7, 8-2 SEC) are ranked 13th in the latest ITA rankings and will be looking for their eighth consecutive win. Last weekend saw Florida pick up back-to-back wins against Mississippi State and Ole Miss. In this week’s ITA rankings, the Gators boast five student athletes ranked in singles and a doubles pair at No. 30.

South Carolina
The Gamecocks (14-5) are 6-4 in conference play for the season and are ranked 17th. This past weekend, South Carolina added two wins to its record, defeating Ole Miss on Friday and Mississippi State on Sunday. The Gamecocks feature two student-athletes ranked nationally in singles and two duos in doubles.

Home Match Notes
Because of construction around Vanderbilt athletic facilities, all outdoor matches for the spring 2024 season will be played at the Ensworth Tennis Center, about 20 minutes from campus at 7405 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221. In case of rain, matches will be moved indoors to the Ensworth facility and admission is free. Vanderbilt tennis matches will enforce a clear bag policy.

Promotions/Giveaways: Friday’s match giveaway features free Vanderbilt visors for fans; Sunday’s promotion is Senior Day, celebrating two Vanderbilt women’s tennis seniors.

Up Next: Vanderbilt travels to Athens next weekend to take on No. 7 Georgia on Friday and then heads to Knoxville on Sunday to face No. 18 Tennessee.
