Dores Drop Time, Add Distance

Vanderbilt student-athletes continued improving upon personal and season and program all-time top 10 marks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt added four marks to program all-time top 10 lists in two events at the Joe Walker Invitational Friday. Select distance Dores also attended the Lee Fast Break Athletics Invitational.

Starting off the action at Ole Miss, Kosi Umerah recorded a personal best 57.04-meter toss in the hammer throw to place second among freshmen and eighth overall. Her mark is No. 2 all-time at Vanderbilt. Veronica Fraley also added her name to the event’s top 10 performers list, throwing 49.06 meters, which is fourth best in Vandy history.

 Alix Still and Anaya Webster were first and second among collegians in the long jump, recording marks of 5.89 and 5.86 meters, respectively, the seventh and eighth-ranked marks on the event’s all-time performers list.

Haley Bishop was the first collegian to cross the finish line in the 200 meters, turning in a time of 24.19 seconds. She has improved her season-best time in the event at five straight meets.

In the invite division of the 1,500 meters, Audrey Allman registered a 4-second personal best to finish third overall with a time of 4:23.65.

Men’s cross country student-athletes Brady Bliven and Mitchel Drees competed in the invite divisions of the 1,500 and 5,000 meters, respectively. Bliven’s time was 3:55.63, and Drees crossed the finish line in 15:01.72.

At Lee, Gigi Clifford competed in the 10,000 meters for the first time in her career, and placed third, turning in a time of 35:54.67. On the men’s side, Zach Hodges turned in a time of 31:12.23 in the 10,000 meters. In the 5,000 meters, Jenna Holland came in 16th out of 84 runners, recording a time of 17:40.00.

Events continue Saturday in Oxford beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the shot put and high jump competitions. Action is streamed by SEC Network+, and live results are available online.
