Dores Come Up Short in College Station

No. 10 Texas A&M defeats Vandy in Friday's matchup

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis came up short on Friday after being defeated 6-1 by No. 10 Texas A&M at the George P. Mitchell ’40 Tennis Center.

The Commodores (11-9, 2-6 SEC) picked up a win in doubles, but it wasn’t enough and A&M took the doubles point. Jeremie Casabon and Nathan Cox picked up a 6-4 victory on Court 2 over Tiago Pires and Kenner Taylor, after Danil Panarin and Hugo Coquelin dropped the first match to the Aggies’ JC Roddick and Lathan Skrobareck. The decision was left up to Joubert Klopper and Michael Ross, ranked 54th, who fell in a tiebreak to No. 28 Giulio Perego and Togan Tokac 7-6 (5).

The Aggies continued to rack up additional points in singles, when Tokac defeated Cox on Court 3 6-2, 6-0, and on Court 6 Luke Casper defeated Coquelin 7-5, 6-1. The Aggies clinched the match when No. 24 Roddick overcame Klopper on Court 2 6-2, 6-4. Ross and No. 85 Panarin also fell to their respective A&M opponents on Courts 4 and 1, and Texas A&M led 6-0. Casabon was left on Court 5. After being down in the first set, he came back to win the next two, picking up the lone point for Vandy against Pires, 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
